Kentucky's Bicentennial Celebration of Abraham Lincoln

Grants

Through funding made available by the Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission (KALBC), an extensive competitive grants program for Lincoln-related projects has been funded through the Kentucky Arts Council, the Kentucky Heritage Council, the Kentucky Historical Society, and the Kentucky Humanities Council.

The grants to date to museums, historical organizations, educational institutions, city and county governments and other non-profit organizations, are being used to support a variety of themes relating to Lincoln and Kentucky, including slavery, nineteenth-century political culture, the Civil War, and Lincoln's legacy today. Funded projects include educational programs, exhibits, public art, community celebrations, speakers, classroom tools, preservation initiatives, and more.

For a list of funded projects, see Master Project List (Word doc. 590K). The deadline for the FY2009 Lincoln Bicentennial competitive project grants from the Kentucky Arts Council and the Kentucky Historical Society has passed. It is possible that additional grant funds might be available in the future, and any further funding will be announced on this site.

Lincoln Heritage Education minigrants are still available to Kentucky K-12 public and private schools for field trips to Kentucky Abraham Lincoln sites. Education project grants are also available through that program for projects that promote Abraham Lincoln or that are related to Lincoln. No cash match is required with either grant.
